Ryan Claycomb, Ph.D.

Assistant Dean

Ryan Claycomb joined the Honors College as Assistant Dean in May 2012. His areas of focus include internationalization of the College, pre-college outreach and summer programs, and programming for honors students not living in Honors Hall. Dr. Claycomb is also Associate Professor of English, and writes and teaches on modern drama, contemporary literature, gender studies, and life writing. Dr. Claycomb comes to us from the English Department, where he has taught classes in modern drama, British literature, and gender studies. He will be wearing several hats (like everyone in the Honors College), but will initially be focusing on building a global focus in the College, as well as facilitating outreach from Honors to local high schools and to alumni. A native of Delaware, Dr. Claycomb did his undergraduate at American University and completed his PhD at University of Maryland, College Park before finally discovering his inner Mountaineer.
